THUMB RULE FOR AIR CONDITIONING LOAD CALCULATION
For Bangladesh
The average air-conditioning load (for places
other than auditorium, cinema halls, conference Hall etc.
(a) can be estimated on the basis of floor
area of 150 sq. feet per refrigeration ton i.e. 150 ft2/RT.This
thumb rule is applicable for spaces with insulated roof or intermediate floors
with occupancy = 6sq. Meter per person, power & lighting level = 20 watts
per sq. meter and external glazing area of the order of 15% of floor area (For
10 feet height).
(b) For auditorium, Cinema Halls or Large
public places, the thumb rule is to use 1 RT for 5 persons or 1 RT per 11 sq.m
of floor area having standard height of 12 feet.
i) Due to
location of the room & partition wall, Location of the window towards the direction
of the sunlight, in case of glass wall above thumb rule may vary case to case.
ii)
A/C with HEPA Filter shall be used in OT, ICU, CCU and Recovery Rooms of
a Hospital.
iii) Adequate positive Air flow as per BNBC
shall be maintained in OT, ICU, CCU and Recovery Rooms of a HospitalSource: PWD Schedule 2014.
